Adventures at the YMCA

We renewed our Y memberships for two months to change things up a bit and to have another workout option. My theme for the month is core. So in addition to riding outside, and doing the odd DVD on the Power Cranks, I've been doing a lot of core workouts. A lot of lower back, abdomen etc. For me this is easier at the Y because you can try different machines and different angles for crunches etc.

However, there are some flaws in this plan:

1) It's January, and this is the time that non-regulars workout, so the Y is packed. Now don't get me wrong I am all for people working out in fact the government should give tax breaks for adults who do sports or work out just like kids, but thats another blog altogether.
2) The male grannies.
I suspect this takes some explanation. :) I go to the gym to workout. That's it full stop. I'm there to do my warmup, my weights and my core workout. I'm not there to look at females, I'm not there to socialize, I'm not there to fist bump my buddy everytime he or I do a set. I'm not there to stand next to my friend while they do their set and talk to them such that a normal set lasts about 20 minutes. It's not the ladies who do this it's middle aged men and college aged men. The women for the most part just go to workout and go home. These guys who appear to live at the Y spend three hours doing a workout that is at most 60-90 minutes. Quit your gabbing and get a move on. Oh yeah and put the fucking dumbells back on the racks.

But seriously, I might be exaggerating a tad but it would be nice if some people would socialize while NOT sitting on a machine. But it's all good fun.

Test suites are still running back to some documentation then.
